John was then appointed by InterContinental Hotels to the position of Vice President, Sales & Marketing - Europe - Middle East - Africa based in Brussels, Belgium. Here, John managed a multinational Sales and Marketing team in sixteen countries. Following this, InterContinental Hotels Group appointed John to the position of Vice President of Worldwide Sales & Marketing Programs based in Atlanta and focused on the Global responsibility of developing business for all hotel brands namely, Holiday Inn, Holiday Inn Express, Crowne Plaza and Inter-Continental Hotels totaling 2,400 hotels, in 64 countries. Prior to joining STDC Shingler resided in Philadelphia and held the position of Senior Vice President - Business Development for GF Management responsible for Business Development, Franchise Relations, Revenue Management and Sales & Marketing for the company's hotel portfolio. Now located in El Cajon, near San Diego, Shingler is currently Managing Director – Hospitality Group for STDC and responsible for the company's hotel portfolio which includes the flagship, historic US Grant Hotel soon to undergo a $26 million dollar renovation. Upon completion the US Grant Hotel will become a Starwood “Luxury Collection” hotel.
